Passing & Possession

FUTSAL SKILLS

FUTSAL WARM UP (15-20 mins)
The first part of the session is 15 to 20 minutes of ball manipulation practice where you will practice three skills to ‘beat a player’ from our Futsal sessions… spend around 5 mins on each skill, then you can tie them all together!
The three skills demonstrated by our ‘mystery coach’ are:
– Change of direction (out to in)
– Shoulder drop (out to in)
– Sole role stepover
Coaching Points:
⚽ Remember to take little touches before you do the beat the player skill.
⚽ Remember to accelerate away from the player you’ve just beaten!

TAG GAME

TAG GAME (10 mins)

For this weeks TAG game it’s simple shuttle runs with a pass at the end of each one:

Run from a object to a mark where someone needs to pass you the ball as you arrive at the mark.

Challenge: How many shuttle runs and passes can you get done in 30 seconds?

UNOPPOSED PRACTICE

UNOPPOSED TECHNICAL PRACTICE (15 mins)

Ask a partner to pass you the ball through a gate. Take two touches and use the inside of your foot to control and pass the ball. Use your first touch to take the ball outside the line of the gate and the second to pass it back to your partner who stays in the same place. Alternate sides (and feet).

After 7 minutes you can vary the practice by receiving the ball on the outside of the gate and using your first touch to bring the ball back in line with the middle of the gate then pass the ball through the gate back to your partner.

Coaching points:

⚽ Always be ok your toes to receive the ball.
⚽ As you pass, make sure your standing foot is next to the ball and pointing towards your intended target.
⚽ Pass through the middle of the ball with the inside of your foot.
⚽️ Keep your focus and discipline so you get lots of repetition of good quality passes.

Practice the following variations for 5 mins each:
– Drag Back
– Inside Swivel
– Outside Swivel

Coaching points:
⚽ Practice the turns with both feet!
⚽ As you turn imagine you’re shielding the ball from the defender (the cone).
⚽ Accelerate out of each turn.

OPPOSSED PRACTICE

OPPOSED TECHNICAL PRACTICE (15 – 20 mins)

To be played against a partner. Each of you stand on either side of a gate (3 yards wide). You have two touches to pass the ball through the gate. The first person to miss the gate loses the point.

Rules:
– ball must stay on the floor.
– You have to use two torches.
– The ball cannot stop dead (even after your first touch.

Play best of three!
